Below are 130 Interactive Google Maps of Historic Events:

Please note: In order to obtain the background information, citations, and to see how the route is plotted (as shown at the right), it is recommended that you first visit the map web pages listed below before jumping directly to the associated Google Map, or Google Earth KML file. For some maps, the route is harder to follow in Google Earth because of the distances involved, and you can see the ruins, forts, villages and ships much better in Google Map. While the Google Earth KML files allow you to digitally walk the map from location marker to location marker and see some of the structures rendered in 3D. The embedded map on each page will enable you to try out both Google Map and Google Earth in order for you to see which is better for you. However, the embedded map is a bit harder to use due to its size limitation and you don;t get to see the legend that is within the Google Map.

Each explorer map has an eBook written by the explorer, or a historian, that the maps are based on that enables you to follow events described in the book and zoom in on the forts, palaces, villages and other details.
